Celebrate local legend J.P. Patches with the unveiling of a new statue honoring J.P and Gertrude during a special event in Seattle's Fremont neighborhood on Sunday, August 17 beginning at 1 pm. Pat Cashman will preside over the event which will include comments from folks ranging from special guest Governor Christine Gregoire and other community leaders who helped make the statue possible to J.P. himself. The bronze statue is called "Late for the Interurban" and features J.P. Patches (Chris Wedes) and Gertrude (Bob Newman). It was made possible through the generosity of numerous donors, and includes a collection box where future donations can be made in support of Children's Hospital and Medical Center.
